ABOUT ME

I remember taking a photography class when I was around eight. Not only did we work entirely with film, but we also got to make our own prints in a darkroom. I still remember the red light, the smell of the chemicals, the awe I felt when the image apparated on the paper. From that moment on, I was a goner.

Being a Millennial, I’ve had the fortune to see cameras evolve, from Polaroids to self-winding cameras, to the digital realm to the ones in our pockets. I’ve held many different types of cameras, from many different eras, and have a deep respect for them. I also come from a long line of photographers on my dad’s side. Which means that photography is, quite literally, in my blood.

When I started taking pictures more seriously in my late teens and early 20s, my granddad—also a photographer—took me under his wing and became my mentor. He taught me so much about the craft, and really fueled this passion that, until then, had only been a small flame.

Since then, I’ve experimented with all different kinds of cameras and methods, both digital and film, and have found a great love for freelensing and trick photography to tell eerie stories about the paranormal world. My work is not meant to be scary or macabre, but beautiful. It is meant to evoke a sense of wonder, maybe even a story, born from the viewer’s own imagination.

Aside from photography, I am a high school art teacher and I currently run the Young Potters’ Club at Capital Arts in JCMO. In my free time I enjoy playing Zelda, watching anime, and spending time with my family.
